No hotel bar in Amsterdam has welcomed such an eclectic mix of international stars as Bar Americain. Many famous guests have ordered a Lemon Jack or Sunset Amore here. Because cocktails are the house specialty. Not surprisingly, the bar is a hot spot for cocktail loving Amsterdam. Shaken or stirred, it’s your call. The cocktail menu changes yearly including many house created cocktail inventions.
For decades, the Bar Americain has also been home to local artists and musicians. Both the location, the nightclub atmosphere and surrounding pop music venues are reason for many to revisit again and again. The bartenders have been there for decades as well, therefore are famous locals in their own right. The bar has its own entrance and a brilliant terrace with fountain for excellent people watching.
Open from 17:00 – 01:00 hours, Bar Americain offers also snacks and other light fare. On many occasions, like Amsterdam Dance Event, there is live music. And on King’s Day, it is one big orange celebration. Latest contribution is a music recording studio in the basement. For those artists that suddenly get inspiration or need to finish off some producing work.
The illustrious wall of fame displays the many celebrities that frequented the Bar Americain. Only portraits shot in the bar itself may end up on the wall. It pays tribute to those frequent visitors that have passed away like Herman Brood, Amy Winehouse, Joe Cocker and Percy Sledge. In 2014 it was the perfect afterparty venue for the RTL Late night talkshow with Humberto Tan that was broadcasted live from the hotel on a daily basis.
